Fields: Edit Search Suggestions

Edit Search Suggestions lets you monitor the search suggestions that display in Searching for patrons with selected search profile. You can review the list of available search suggestions that Portfolio logs and compiles from previous patrons searches for the search profile. You can also blacklist any terms in the list of available search suggestions so that they never appear as part of a search suggestion to patrons with the search profile.

By default, Enterprise includes a default blacklist that applies to all search profiles. The Edit Search Suggestions page allows you create a custom blacklist for the selected search profile. (For more information, see Understanding the search suggestion list and blacklists.)

Exercise caution when blacklisting search terms for a search profile. Once a search term has been added to the custom blacklist, it can only be removed from the custom blacklist by SirsiDynix SirsiDynix Customer Support.

If desired, you can create an email list of users who you want to be notified by email when Portfolio updates the search suggestion list for the selected search profile. (For instructions on how to specify email recipients for all search profiles in the system, see Adding or removing an email address for all profiles .)

Displays the name of the search profile for which you are managing search suggestions.

Specifies whether or not to enable search suggestions for the search profile. Select the check box to place a check mark in the check box if you want to enable search suggestions for the search profile. Select the check box to remove the check mark in the check box if you want to disable search suggestions for the search profile.

By default, the Enable Search Suggestions check box is selected for all search profiles in the system.

The Current Search Suggestion Lookup fields allow you to search for words or phrases in the current list of search suggestions for the search profile, and move selected terms to the custom blacklist for the search profile.

Lets you locate a term in the available search suggestion list. Type the word or phrase (up to 255 characters) that you want to locate in the available search suggestion list. As you type, the Current Search Suggestions field displays search suggestion list items that match the typed text.

Displays a list of all the terms that Portfolio has gathered as possible search suggestions for the search profile. Portfolio monitors the search phrases that patrons use to find items. When a search word or phrase is used in searches of Discovery search sources three or more times in the last 10 days, Portfolio logs that search phrase and displays it as a search suggestion for the search profile. To move search suggestions to the custom blacklist and prevent them from appearing as search suggestions to patrons with this search profile, select the terms in the Current Search Suggestions list, then choose Blacklist Selected Phrases.

Important: Exercise caution when blacklisting search terms for a search profile. Once a search term has been added to the custom blacklist, it can only be removed from the custom blacklist by SirsiDynix SirsiDynix Customer Support.

Note: Once you blacklist a search term from the list of available search suggestions for a search profile, the term will not reappear in the search suggestion list for the search profile even if patrons with other search profiles enter the same phrase in Searching in the future.

The Current Email List fields and options manage the email notification list for the search profile. Portfolio will send an email message to the recipients listed in the Current Email List field when the search suggestion list for the search profile is updated.

Specifies the email address (up to 255 characters) that you want to add to or remove from the email notification list for the search profile.

Displays the list of email addresses that will receive an email notification message any time Portfolio updates the search suggestions for the search profile.

Option	Description
Add Email	Adds the email address typed in the Add Email field to the email recipient list shown in the Current Email List field.
Remove	Removes the selected email address or addresses from the email recipient list shown in the Current Email List field.
